Streatham Stables Community Centre (SSCC)

Helping Streatham get its groove back! A new community hub, the Streatham Stables Community Centre (SSCC), has just launched. This project involves the development of an arts hub behind the White Lion, on 232 Streatham High Road.

There is currently already a broad range of activities on offer at the SSCC, including Yoga, Zumba classes, vocal coaching, physical theatre, and music lessons. Rooms are also available for hire. The main driving force behind the changes is the children’s charity, Music4Children, aiming to provide creative education as well as meeting places for the local community and young people in Streatham.

Oz Bayldon, Music4Children Founder was quoted as saying: “We have been building the hub for three years now solely on the generosity and humanity of local people … the [Outer London Fund] money will help us to deliver our objectives more quickly and most importantly will enhance Streatham High Road by helping us create an entrance to the SSCC, which will be very eye-catching, becoming a real Streatham landmark.”
