Stop The Cuts Demonstration scheduled for 20th October
The TUC union is organising a demonstration and rally on Saturday, 20th October to protest against the austerity cuts in the UK. With the theme “A Future That Works“, the demonstration is about bringing awareness of the situation of flagging economic growth that we are now in, and raising awareness of the fact that we need a discussion on how to create the “Future That Works”.
Although the demonstration starts properly at 11am on the 20th October, there is a gathering in South London at 10am in front of the Imperial War Museum. Presumably, the group will start to head towards Hyde Park to join the main group.
The “Lambeth Save Our Services” campaign is supporting the TUC’s “A Future That Works” demonstration, and is keen to get the word out over the next 2 weeks to those living in the Brixton and Streatham area.
Lambeth Save Our Services will be holding information events at the following:
- stalls in Brixton and Streatham on Saturday 13th October, times to be confirmed.
- leafleting Brixton tube on the evening of Wednesday 17th October.
- leafleting Brixton tube on the evening of Thursday 18th October.
- distributing posters round shops in Brixton and Streatham.
Whether you support or are against the austerity measures, now is as good time as any to engage in discussion about the future of the country. Should we stay the course or should be change?
